U.S. tests Ukraine's reaction - ex-deputy minister on Trump war plans leak
Ukraine's former Deputy Minister Heorhiy Tuka believes the U.S. is testing Ukraine’s reaction by leaking war settlement plans
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
Heorhiy Tuka suggested that the Trump team may be deliberately leaking settlement plans to test Ukraine’s reaction, though he stressed this is only an assumption. He noted that it’s unclear what proposals Witkoff is discussing with Putin, despite Trump claiming to pressure Russia.
According to the public figure, the main condition in negotiations with Russia today is the issue of Crimea
“Yesterday, Witkoff and Putin had a meeting that lasted more than 5 hours. I don't think that the draft that was leaked to the media could have been discussed for 5 hours. The main thing in these meetings is to discuss the concept. The concept is that the U.S. is ready to recognize Crimea as Russian. And this is only part of a number of controversial proposals that have been voiced in Trump's war settlement plan,” he added.

- On the same day, Zelenskyy said that various peace proposals were being considered, and that the new peace terms had been submitted to U.S. President Donald Trump, and Ukraine was waiting for a response. He also noted that very important meetings were to take place in the coming days, which should bring silence closer for Ukraine.
- On April 26, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Ukraine and Russia are close to reaching a deal: he wants Kyiv and Moscow to meet at a “very high level.”
