Ukrainian intelligence says Russia may launch attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure in fall
Massive missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure may be repeated this fall, and Ukraine still has insufficient air defense capabilities
Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, made the statement in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"We do not rule out this possibility (of strikes on energy infrastructure - ed.). First of all, as I said, they are producing (missiles - ed.)," he said.
According to the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Ukraine successfully managed the previous winter with its power system functioning adequately, indicating that Russian troops did not achieve their desired results. However, there is a possibility that they may attempt another disruption in the future. Ukraine has to build up its air defense, because its territory is very large and the available air defense assets are not yet sufficient to cover all regions.
"We are preparing. We understand this problem, and our partners also understand this problem. And, once again, air defense is one of the priorities for today to increase the capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," emphasized Skibitskyi.

At present, Ukraine's power system is running smoothly, and necessary repairs are being conducted on damaged equipment. However, during periods of high power demand, occasional imports from neighboring countries are being utilized to ensure system stability. Ukrenergo has provided guidance to the Ukrainian public on which appliances should be avoided during evening hours to help maintain a balanced power system.
