
Belarusian volunteer Maria Zaitseva killed near Bakhmut

After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Maria Zaitseva joined the Ukrainian military.
The girl was killed in the battles near Bakhmut, where she fought as part of the 2nd International Legion. Yesterday, on January 16, she turned 24, and this morning she died.
The publication noted that Maria was remembered from a photo taken on August 9, 2020, in Minsk. Then the girl was wounded by a stun grenade. After that, the girl began to have hearing problems and impaired hand motor skills. Her picture with a bloody head went around the world.
Maria Zaitseva underwent several surgeries in Belarus and then went to the Czech Republic for treatment.
- A soldier from Latvia, Edgars Platonov, was killed in the battles for Ukraine. He fought against the Russian army as part of the International Legion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
