Ukrainian energy operator predicts significant deficit in power system, generation will be able to cover only 75% of consumption

This is reported by Ukrenergo National Power Company

The company notes that today's electricity consumption is expected to be slightly lower than on Wednesday due to warm weather.

"But the power deficit in the power system remains significant, especially in the evening peak, when generation can cover only ¾ of consumption," Ukrenergo emphasized.

According to power engineers, the reason for the shortage in the power grid is enemy missile and drone attacks, especially the strikes on January 14, which caused significant damage to several power units of thermal power plants.

The regional power distribution companies have been given daily consumption limits, and emergency shutdowns are possible if they exceed them.

At the same time, repairs are ongoing in Ukraine. 

The company noted that on January 18, Ukrenergo completed the repair of an autotransformer at one of the substations in the Dnipro region.

"We have also restored the damaged power line that connects Zaporizhzhia NPP to the power system of Ukraine and provides power to it, preventing an accident," Ukrenergo summarized.
