Ukrainian forces destroy 88 Russian cruise missiles, 17 artillery systems and 750 soldiers in a day - General Staff

This is stated in the morning report of the Ukrainian General Staff.

The total Russian combat losses from 24.02.22 to 30.12.23 are estimated at:

• personnel - about 35,8270 (+750) people,
• tanks - 5,969 (+16) 
• armored combat vehicles - 11,053 (+20) 
• artillery systems - 8,434 (+17)
• MLRS - 939 (+1) 
• air defense systems - 621 (+1) 
• aircraft - 329 (+0)

Russian attacks on Ukraine

In total, the Russian force launched 150 missile and 74 air strikes, and fired 84 times from multiple launch rocket systems at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Private houses and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

At night, Russia attacked Ukraine once again, using 10 Shahed-136/131 UAVs. Ukraine's air defense destroyed 5 attack drones.

Air strikes were carried out on 5 localities in Kharkiv region; 3 in Luhansk region; 5 in Donetsk region; and 1 in Zaporizhzhia region.

About 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under artillery fire.

Situation at main frontline areas

There were 56 combat clashes over the past day.

In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group in the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region, where the Russian troops unsuccessfully tried to break through the defense of Ukrainian army.

In the Lyman direction, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukraine's soldiers repulsed two hostile attacks near Bohdanivka and Andriivka, Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, in the area of responsibility of the Tavria operational-strategic group, Ukrainian forces continue to hold back the Russian enemy, who keeps trying to encircle Avdiivka. They are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the Russian army.

In the Marinka direction, Ukraine's defense forces continue to hold back the Russian enemy in the areas of Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they repelled nine attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukraine's forces rebuffed 2 adversary attacks west and northwest of Verbove in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the area of responsibility of the Odesa operational-strategic group in the Kherson direction, Ukrainian soldiers continue to expand their foothold. Despite significant losses, the Russian troops keep trying to drive Ukrainian units out of their positions. Thus, over the past day, Russia carried out more than 10 unsuccessful assault operations.

Strikes of Ukrainian forces on Russian positions

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the Russian enemy along the entire front line.

Over the past day, Ukraine's aviation struck 10 areas of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration and 3 anti-aircraft missile systems.

Missile troops targeted 2 areas of personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration, 3 artillery units, 5 ammunition depots and 2 other important Russian targets.

Among the occupation forces of the Russian Federation, there are numerous cases of military personnel refusing to carry out criminal orders and participate in hostilities. Thus, on December 19 this year, 43 servicemen from the 150th Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian Armed Forces who refused to participate in hostilities were sent from the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region to the territory of the Russian Federation escorted by military police officers.

• On December 29, 31 combat clashes took place at the frontline. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line on the left bank of the Dnipro River, continuing to hold their positions and inflicting fire on the Russian enemy.
