Ukrainian army targets 2 Russian command posts, air defense and 2 warehouses – General Staff 

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff  reported this in its nightly update on August 2.

"The Ukrainian defense forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdyansk directions, consolidate their positions, and carry out counter-battery measures," the General Staff said.

There were 33 combat engagements during the day.

Situation at the front and shelling of Ukrainian territory

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

In the northeastern direction, the enemy forces launched air strikes near Kozacha Lopana, Kharkiv region. The Russian army continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: over 20 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian enemy launched air strikes in 2 areas. Six settlements in the Kharkiv region came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, the Russian army carried out air strikes near Bilohorivka in Luhansk region and Serebryanka, Spirne in Donetsk region. Two settlements in the Luhansk region and 3 settlements in Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, Russian forces made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost ground west of Kurdiumivka, south of Andriivka and west of Klishchiyivka in Donetsk region. Russian occupiers conducted air strikes in the areas of Druzhba and New York. More than 10 settlements suffered from enemy artillery shelling. 

In the Avdiivka direction, Russian aviation launched an air strike in the area of Avdiivka. Five settlements in the Donetsk region came under artillery fire.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defense forces continue to hold back the Russian offensive near Marinka. The Russian enemy fired at 5 settlements in the Donetsk region.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian aviation conducted an air strike near Staromaiorske. It made unsuccessful attempts to regain lost ground west of Staromaiorske and north of Urozhayne. More than 10 settlements came under artillery fire. 

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Russian enemy is focused on preventing further advance of Ukraine’s troops. The Russian forces launched air strikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Pyatykhatky in Zaporizhzhia region. More than 10 settlements came under artillery fire in Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Russian forces launched an air strike in the area of Odradokamyanka. More than 15 cities, towns and villages came under artillery fire, including the city of Kherson. 

Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on the invading Russian army

Ukrainian aviation carried out 9 strikes on the areas where enemy personnel, weapons and military equipment  were concentrated, and targeted a Russian anti-aircraft missile system.

Missile and artillery units hit 20 artillery pieces in firing positions, a radar station, 2 control points, an area of concentration of weapons and military equipment, an air defence, an area of concentration of personnel and 2 enemy ammunition depots.

• In the early hours of August 2, Russian terrorists launched Shahed drones to attack Ukraine. There was damage in the Kyiv and Odesa regions.

• Russia's losses in the full-scale war against Ukraine have reached 247,230 soldiers. Occupying Russian forces are trying to regain their lost ground in Donetsk region, namely in the Bakhmut and Shakhtarsk directions.
