Ukrainian army holds back Russian offensive near Marinka, Avdiivka – General Staff

Russia launched a missile strike, 47 airstrikes, attacked Ukraine with Shaheds overnight

During the day, the Russian Federation launched another airstrike with Iranian Shahed-136/131 UAVs against Ukraine. The Air Force destroyed all 15 enemy UAVs. The enemy also launched a missile strike, 47 airstrikes, and about 23 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. There are casualties among the civilians. 

The threat of missile and air strikes across Ukraine remains high.

About 30 combat engagements took place during the day.

Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed 3 Russian munitions depots

Over the past day, the Defense Forces' aviation launched 8 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions and 2 on the anti-aircraft missile systems.

Over the day, missile and artillery units destroyed 10 artillery pieces at firing positions, a radar station, a command post, a manpower concentration area, 2 air defense facilities, and 3 munitions depots.

Frontline situation

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: over 30 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions

In the Kupiansk direction, 6 settlements of the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 

In the Lyman direction, 5 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

In the Bakhmut direction, over 15 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

In the Avdiivka direction, more than 5 settlements in the Donetsk region were attacked. 

In the Marinka direction, over 6 settlements in the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, more than 5 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 15 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

• On August 3, in a morning briefing, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported that the Russian forces were trying to regain their lost ground in the Bakhmut and Shakhtarsk directions.

• On the night of August 3, a large-scale attack by Russian drones took place: air defense destroyed more than a dozen of Shaheds in the Kyiv region.
