Ukrainian Armed Forces destroy 3 Russian air defense systems, 5 UAVs, ammunition depot and 11 artillery units overnight – General Staff

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shared the information in an evening report on July 8.

"The aviation of the Ukrainian defense forces carried out 7 strikes on concentrations of enemy manpower over the day," the report says.

Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck 11 Russian artillery pieces at firing positions, 1 ammunition depot, 3 air defense systems and 2 electronic warfare stations during the day.

Russian troops launch a missile and air strike using S-300 systems and Shahed UAVs

Russia keeps killing civilians in Ukraine, ignores the laws and customs of war and uses terror tactics.

During the day, Russian occupying forces launched missile and air strikes on the territory of Ukraine, using S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles and Iranian-made Shahed strike UAVs. As a result of combat operations, the air defense forces destroyed 5 attack UAVs.

Some of the attack UAVs hit industrial and infrastructure facilities in Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovohrad regions.

Russian troops also launched 34 air strikes and 42 MLRS attacks. In particular, 8 civilians were killed and 13 wounded as a result of the strikes on Lyman by Russian troops.

The General Staff emphasizes that the threat of missile and air strikes aross Ukraine remains high.

The situation in different regions of Ukraine

Russian troops attack in Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, with over 25 combat engagements taking place over the last day.

• On the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.
• On the northeastern border with Russia, Russian troops maintain military presence. They launched an air strike on a settlement in the Sumy region, as well as mortar and artillery attacks, targeting a total of over 25 settlements across Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions.
• In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops launched an air strike near Novoyehorivka, Luhansk region. They attempted an assault near Berestove, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka, Luhansk region. Ukrainian soldiers steadfastly held the defense line and repelled all attacks. Russian troops also launched artillery and mortar attacks on 4 settlements in the Kharkiv region.
• In the Lyman direction, during the day, with the support of aviation, Russian forces attempted to launch an assault near Vesele, Donetsk region, but were unsuccessful. Furthermore, Russian forces carried out air strikes near 2 settlements and shelled over 10 settlements in Luhansk and Donetsk regions with artillery.
• In the Bakhmut direction, Russian forces carried out air strikes near 2 settlements. They also shelled over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region.
• In the Avdiivka direction, Russian forces launched an assault near 4 settlements, but were unsuccessful. They launched an air strike near Avdiivka and shelled over 15 settlements with artillery. 
• In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all attacks near the town of Marinka. Russian troops launched an air strike near Krasnohorivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, and shelled 6 settlements in the Donetsk region with artillery.
• In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russian troops launched an unsuccessful offensive near Blahodatne, Donetsk region. They also launched an air strike on the same town and shelled over 10 other settlements. 
• In Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, Russian forces’ priority is preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops.

Russian troops also launched an air strike on a settlement in the Kherson region and shelled over 20 settlements across Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions.  Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

• Over the day of July 7, the aviation of the Ukrainian defense forces carried out 7 strikes on concentrations of Russian personnel, 4 on anti-aircraft missile systems and 1 on a control center.
