This was stated by the Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat on the United News nation telethon on December 22.
"In peacetime, it takes a specific process, our partners take it very seriously, everything must be done strictly according to the rules. But today, in the conditions in which Ukraine finds itself, I think the process will be accelerated, perhaps up to several months," he said.
Ihnat noted that earlier the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully mastered IRIS-T and NASAMS systems in just a few weeks.
"The systems arrived, we mastered these systems. Now they are successfully performing tasks in Ukraine. We see that they gain a lot of successes, in the form of downed Russian missiles and Shahed drones," said the spokesman.
- On December 21, the United States announced the decision to supply Patriot air defence systems to Ukraine. The Patriot air defence system is capable of shooting down cruise missiles, short-range ballistic missiles and aircraft at a much higher altitude than the air defense systems previously provided to Ukraine.
- After the U.S. announcement of the Patriot supply to Ukraine, the German opposition appealed to the federal government to provide Kyiv with such weapons systems.
