Ukraine’s Security Service destroys Russian Solntsepyok system in Zaporizhzhia region

During the reconnaissance operation, the SBU Zaporizhzhia Department intelligence officers detected a Russian position of the Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system, which the invading forces call the "pride" of the Russian military-industrial complex. It was this system that was supposed to strike at the positions of the Ukrainian military, which are carrying out a counteroffensive in this direction, the statement says.

"Thanks to the coordination of the Security Service and artillery of the Armed Forces, the TOS-1A Solntsepyok was destroyed with the crew and full ammunition," the SBU said.

The flamethrower system was hit with a HIMARS missile.

• On October 7, the Institute for the Study of War reported that the Ukrainian military continued offensive operations in the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. The defenders have made advances on the southern flank of the Bakhmut direction and in the Verbove area.
