Ukraine's GDP will definitely decrease due to blackouts
Oleg Pendzin, executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, noted that Ukraine will lose approximately 32-33% of its GDP this year
He told this on air on Espreso TV channel.
"GDP (gross domestic product - ed.) will definitely decrease due to blackouts, which is primarily related to the complexity of business operations. For example, a medium-sized business can somehow insure itself with means of uninterrupted power supply, with generators. And a large business, unfortunately, today it is not possible to completely shut down its production with alternative sources. We have already seen statements of large manufacturers that problems with the supply of electricity lead to a reduction in production, that is, large enterprises will suffer, and as a result, a drop in GDP should be expected," the executive director of the Economic discussion club said.
Oleg Pendzin concluded that in any case it should be understood that this year Ukraine will lose approximately 32-33% of its GDP, such a figure is extremely large due to the damage caused by Russian occupying forces to the economy of Ukraine.

On December 13, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in Paris said that Ukraine's GDP could fall by up to 50% if Russian Federation continued shelling of infrastructure.
