Ukraine's Foreign Ministry unveils its expectations from Xi Jinping's visit to Moscow
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry is monitoring Chinese leader Xi Jinping's visit to Russia and hopes that Beijing will use its influence on Russia to end the war
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko, said this in a commentary to a Ukrainian media outlet.
"Ukraine is closely monitoring the visit of the Chinese President to Russia. We expect Beijing to use its influence on Moscow to force it to stop its aggressive war against Ukraine. As emphasized by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in a phone conversation with his Chinese counterpart last week, the restoration of Ukraine's territorial integrity should be at the center of all diplomatic efforts," Nikolenko said.
"We are ready for a closer dialogue with China in order to restore peace in Ukraine in accordance with the principles enshrined in the UN Charter and the latest UN General Assembly resolution on this issue," he added.
