‘Ukraine war nears critical stage’: diplomat explains Blinken's visit to Kyiv
Ukrainian diplomat Volodymyr Ohryzko believes that the visit of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is due to the Ukrainian army's success on the battlefield
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
"If we talk about US Secretary of State Blinken's visit to Kyiv, the main reason for this is that we are approaching a critical stage in the war with the Russian aggressor. After all, what is happening on the frontlines, including in the south, shows that our Armed Forces are successfully overcoming the enemy's resistance. This means that with sufficient support, Ukraine is able to break through the enemy's defense system and liberate its territory. When Ukraine is able to liberate the occupied territories and reach the Sea of Azov, it will mean the end of the first and most painful stage of the Russian-Ukrainian war," explained Ohryzko.
The diplomat emphasized that one of the topics for discussion during Blinken's visit could be anti-corruption activities in Ukraine.
"The next topic that was one of the key ones during Blinken's visit to Kyiv was the upcoming visit of the Ukrainian president to the United States. This issue is important for both sides. Therefore, such events need to be agreed upon in advance. And, of course, the third point. Anti-corruption measures in Ukraine are being actively discussed in the United States. Here, it seems to me that Antony Blinken left Kyiv with a clear understanding that anti-corruption activities in Ukraine are not just lip service," he added.
