Three more suspects in murder of Ukrainian basketball player arrested in Germany
In Germany, law enforcement authorities have arrested three more suspects in the killing of 17-year-old Ukrainian basketball player Volodymyr Yermakov
The local police press service reports.
Police detained a 14-year-old German of Greek descent from Herne, along with a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old Syrian from Gelsenkirchen on the morning of December 16th.
Before this, law enforcement authorities interviewed numerous witnesses, evaluated seized evidence, and examined surveillance cameras.
All those arrested are suspected of murder, attempted murder, and inflicting serious bodily harm. The homicide investigation department is also investigating whether the detainees could be involved in other similar crimes.
On the evening of February 10, Ukrainian basketball players Volodymyr Yermakov and Artem Kozachenko were attacked with knives on the streets of Oberhausen. The latter managed to survive, while Yermakov died from the injuries.
Initially, the German police arrested a 15-year-old German-Turkish high school student, who was already known to law enforcement for several assaults and robberies. Law enforcement officials believe that a quarrel arose between the Ukrainians and other teenagers.
