Ukraine says humanitarian situation in Crimea worsens due to Russia's logistics challenges
Natalia Humeniuk, head of Ukraine's Southern Defense Forces press center, noted that the M17 highway through Armiansk remains the only transport connection with the peninsula for the occupiers, but due to congestion, traffic on the M17 may stop.
She said this on Espreso TV.
"If we work hard to cut off Russia's transportation arteries in the south, they will still have a ferry crossing. But even here, the sea is on our side, because for several days now, storms have prevented the enemy from using this ferry as a logistics artery. The M-17 highway through Armiansk, which the occupiers still have for use, is already overloaded. As the situation with the Crimean, Chongar and Henichesk bridges deteriorates further and the pontoon crossing in this direction is closed, the M17 highway may come to a standstill," Natalia Humeniuk informed.
According to her, in addition to military needs, humanitarian needs are also suffering, because the highway is actually the only connection for supplies to the peninsula, and the humanitarian situation there is getting worse.
Natalia Humeniuk noted that the occupiers are concerned about the way their logistics are currently organized in the south.
Strikes on the Chongar Bridge
On the night of June 22, Russian occupiers reported an explosion on the Chongar Bridge near the temporarily occupied Crimea.
On the morning of July 29, the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted another successful strike on the Chongar Bridge. The information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces' accurate work was confirmed by StratCom in the evening of the same day.
On August 6, Ukrainian Defense Forces missiles hit the Chongar Bridge and the bridge across the Tonka Strait connecting the city of Henichesk with Arabat Spit.
On August 7, Serhiy Khlan, a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, reported that the Chongar Bridge is still closed, and small armored personnel carriers of the occupiers are already moving across the bridge towards Henichesk.
Also, Natalia Humeniuk noted that Russia's logistics are complicated due to problems with transportation routes.
