Ukraine regains control of 1,200 km border in Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions

Ukrainian defenders took back control of about 1,200 km of border, two-thirds of the land is border with Russia

The State Border Service shared the information.

"State Border Service in Kyiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions entered the area of responsibility. Restored control at the site border length of 1,200 km, two thirds of which is the border with Russia," said the director of the Department of State Border Protection Leonid Ram.

However, the danger remains so the classic measures of protecting the border aren't enough. We continue measures of detailed inspection of the area and establish additional posts.

The difficult situation is on the border with Moldova in the Transnistria region. All checkpoints there are closed.

Odesa Regional Military Speaker Sergiy Bratchuk noted that a second front bording unrecognized Transnistria won't open soon. Russian provocations staged there didn't give the expected results.

"I can name at least 4 provocations that aimed to escalate the so-called Transnistrian Moldovan Republic, but it's not possible. The local population doesn't want to become cannon fodder. The first day after the attack, after the first provocation in Transnistria, many locals began to leave in their cars in the Moldova and Ukrainian Odesa directions," said Sergiy Bratchuk.
