Ukraine needs over 120,000 drones monthly to counter Russia's offensives
The Russian army adds 30,000 to 35,000 soldiers every month. To weaken Russia’s offensive power, the Ukrainian Defense Forces need over 120,000 drones each month
Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of Ukraine’s 429th separate regiment of unmanned systems ACHILLES, shared the information Espreso TV.
“The Russians will use the soil, which will finally dry out in the summer, along with roads and communication lines to increase their strikes. But it’s too early and wrong to say the enemy is limited only by weather and has just a 4-month window,” Fedorenko explained.
The UAV regiment commander stressed that Russian forces can still replace their battlefield losses. To reduce Russia’s ability to launch attacks, Ukraine needs up to 3 drones for every Russian soldier.
“As we saw in late fall and winter, the enemy can keep launching offensives by using its manpower. So, how long Russia can keep attacking depends on how many soldiers they can recruit. Right now, they are actively recruiting and basically buying people from an uninformed society.
Because of this, the Russians can replace more than 30,000 to 35,000 soldiers every month. That means we need at least 120,000 drones each month along the entire front. This will give us 2 to 3 drones for every enemy soldier and help stop their strike and assault operations,” he concluded.
- On May 25, Ukraine’s General Staff reported that 204 combat clashes occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front since May 24. In the Pokrovsk sector, Russia attempted to storm Ukrainian Defense Forces’ positions 65 times.
