Ukraine fortifies northern border with anti-tank minefields, commander unveils details
Currently, the enemy is not ready to launch an offensive in the northern direction, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ready for any scenario
This was announced by the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev.
"A significant role in deterring the enemy is played by the system of engineering barriers, the arrangement of which continues daily. A system of mine and non-explosive barriers is being built up directly on the state border and in the depths of defense. We continue to mine the area, create minefields and anti-tank ditches on sections of roads and routes of possible enemy advancement," he said about increasing the stability of defense in the northern direction.
According to Nayev, over the past ten days, anti-tank minefields and barriers have been set up using more than 5,500 mines. About 1,500 meters of trenches and 3,500 meters of anti-tank ditches have been dug along the state border.
"Several dozens of blocked gaps, shelters and firing positions for personnel, as well as firing positions for equipment have been set up," the general added.
