Trump “tries to ignore” recent Turkey developments — UCCA spokesperson
Spokesperson for the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), Andrij Dobriansky, believes President Donald Trump will try to ignore Russia’s blatant disregard for the negotiation process in Turkey
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“I believe Donald Trump would prefer to ignore what happened this week in Turkey. Even Marco Rubio took these events more seriously. We know that his main goal in Turkey was to prepare for the NATO summit. Rubio was ready to meet with the Russians. But the Russians sent a delegation led by Medinsky. Basically, they sent advisors who came to wait for Ukraine to surrender,” Dobriansky explained.
He also expressed hope that Ukraine’s European allies would immediately begin imposing sanctions on Russia in response to the Kremlin’s reluctance to engage in constructive negotiations.
“The Russians are preparing to continue military actions. Meanwhile, since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has been facing delays in military aid from partners. These delays are even larger than when we were waiting for the Congress’s approval of aid to Ukraine in 2023. However, Ukraine is now in a different position. The Ukrainian defense industry is working very effectively today. What’s happening in Turkey, frankly, is not a serious discussion; the Russians are constantly manipulating. I’m very curious when Ukraine’s good friends, such as Macron, Merz, and Starmer, will initiate the sanctions against Russia that they promised,” he added.
