Trump greenlights U.S. intelligence sharing for Ukraine’s deep strikes on Russia — WSJ
The U.S. will give Ukraine intelligence for long‑range strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure as it considers sending more powerful weapons
The Wall Street Journal reported the information, citing U.S. officials.
U.S. President Donald Trump recently authorized intelligence agencies and the Pentagon to assist Kyiv with strikes.
The U.S. will provide Ukraine with intelligence for long-range missile attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure. Sources say the Trump administration is considering sending Kyiv more powerful weapons capable of hitting more targets in Russia.
American officials are also asking NATO allies to provide similar support, sources add.
The expanded intelligence sharing with Kyiv is the latest sign that Trump is deepening support for Ukraine, as his efforts to advance peace talks have stalled.
Providing intelligence means Ukraine will be able to more effectively strike refineries, pipelines, power plants and other infrastructure located far from its borders. This will deprive the Kremlin of the revenues and oil needed to continue the war.
U.S. officials said they are also considering supplying Tomahawk and Barracuda missiles, as well as other U.S. ground- and air-launched missiles with ranges of about 500 miles (800 km).
Officials said no decision has yet been made on what, if anything, will be sent to Ukraine.
Intelligence combined with more powerful weapons could have a much greater effect than Ukraine’s previous strikes on Russia, the outlet says. It would inflict heavier damage on energy infrastructure and constrain Russian air defenses.
U.S. officials are awaiting written instructions from the White House before sharing the necessary intelligence, one source said.
