Situation near Velyka Novosilka, Donetsk region, becomes more stable in favor of AFU – UK intelligence
In the Velyka Novosilka area west of Vuhledar in Donetsk region, has seen relative calm for the past four weeks
The UK Ministry of Defense reported the information.
The level of fighting in this area has been significantly lower compared to June and July 2023.
British intelligence highlighted that during the summer, Ukraine likely reclaimed approximately 125 square kilometers of territory along this front.
Furthermore, Ukrainian Defense Forces' operations in this direction have constrained elements of Russia's 36th and 5th Combined Arms Armies from the Eastern Military District, along with airborne units, preventing their reinforcement of other areas.
British intelligence also observed that the Russian occupying forces in this region are now on the defensive and unlikely to launch any offensive actions for some time.
“While this axis has stabilized, Russian forces likely remain in a defensive posture to guard against possible future Ukrainian offensive operations. It is unlikely there will be a significant drawdown of Russian forces from this axis in the next six weeks,” according to the British Ministry of Defense report.
