Russia loses 21 tanks, 17 artillery systems and 580 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine — General Staff

There were 68 combat clashes on the frontline over the last day. Ukrainian defenders advance in two directions, while Russian losses in personnel have reached 282,000

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to October 6, 2023, amounted to:

  • personnel - about 282,280 (+580 per day) 
  • tanks - 4,821 (+21)
  • armored fighting vehicles - 9,123 (+21)
  • artillery systems - 6,705 (+17)
  • MLRS - 808
  • air defense systems - 542 (+1)
  • aircraft - 315
  • helicopters - 316
  • vehicles and tank trucks - 9,111 (+38)
  • ships/boats - 20
  • submarines - 1
  • UAV operational-tactical level - 5,190 (+5)
  • special equipment - 959 (+3)
  • cruise missiles - 1,530

Ukrainian Armed Forces have partial success near Andriivka, Donetsk region. Frontline update

Thus, according to the Ukrainian General Staff, Ukrainian defenders had a partial success northeast of Andriivka, Donetsk region.

In the area of the northern Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed. 

In the northeastern border area, Russian forces maintain a grouping of troops covering the state border, conducting active sabotage activities in the border areas to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increasing the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka, Kharkiv region.

In Lyman direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 6 attacks near Makiivka, Luhansk region.

In Bakhmut direction, Russian troops tried to regain the lost position near Andriivka, Donetsk region, to no avail.

In Avdiivka and Marinka directions, Russian troops carried out 20 unsuccessful attacks near Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Marinka, Krasnohorivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region.

In Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 10 attacks near 2 settlements in the Donetsk region.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces are conducting an offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, offensive (assault) operations in the Bakhmut direction, inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces, consolidating their positions and exhausting Russian troops.

In Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defence Forces conduct counter-battery operations, destroy Russian depots and successfully strike at the enemy's rear.

Russia launches 34 air strikes on Ukraine in a day

Yesterday, the Russian army launched another series of missile attacks on civilian objects in Chornomorsk, Odesa region, Myrhorod, Poltava region, and Peresichne, Kharkiv region.

In total, Russia launched 8 missile attacks, 34 air strikes, and 37 MLRS attacks at both the positions of Ukrainian troops and civilian objects in Ukraine. Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Destruction and damage were caused to the following: a grain storage facility of the port infrastructure, buildings of a boarding house in a recreational area, apartment and private residential buildings, a vocational school, and other civilian infrastructure.

Russian troops launched air strikes on 18 settlements across Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.

Over 110 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions came under Russian artillery fire.

Ukrainian Armed Forces hit Russian personnel concentrations 9 times

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation carried out 8 strikes on the concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment and 5 strikes on anti-aircraft missile systems. Ukrainian defenders also destroyed 4 operationally tactical UAVs.

Ukrainian  missile troops hit a Russian artillery unit, a personnel concentration, and an electronic warfare station.
