Shahed attack on Odesa: debris hit high-rise building, killing 3 people, injuring over 10
Late in the evening of June 9, Russian troops attacked Odesa with Shahed drones, air defense was operating: the debris hit a high-rise building, 3 people were killed, over 10 were wounded
South Operational Command reported the information.
"During a nighttime drone attack on Odesa region, air defense forces destroyed all Shahed-131/136. As a result of the air battle, the debris of one of the drones hit an apartment in a high-rise building and caused a fire. The fire of 50 square meters was quickly extinguished," the statement said.
Three civilians were killed in the Russian attack. More than 10 people were injured. The blast wave damaged several apartment buildings in the area.
The explosions were reported by Suspilne TV and local residents on Telegram channels.
According to reports, the first explosions were heard in Odesa around 11:45 pm. Repeated loud sounds were heard closer to 11:55 pm.
At 00:04 am on June 10, Vladyslav Nazarov, spokesman for the South Operational Command, issued an official statement.
"Military operations are underway in the sky over Odesa and Mykolaiv regions. The enemy is attacking with Shahed-136/131 attack drones. As a result of the air battle, debris may fall, buildings and other objects may catch fire. Stay in shelters, do not film or share the work of air defense," he emphasized.
Earlier, the spokesman for the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Bratchuk, hinted that air defense was operating on his Telegram channel.
The air raid alert in the Odesa region was announced at 11:12 pm.
