Counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented sabotage at railway infrastructure facilities in the Odesa region
This is reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Security forces detained an agent of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Among the seized items from the attacker are more than 3 kg of trotyl, an anti-tank mine and fuses.
The investigation found out that the attacker collected intelligence about the transportation of military equipment, weapons, ammunition and fuel and lubricants on certain sections of the Odesa railway to transmit information to Russian military intelligence and prepare explosions.
"Security Service of Ukraine officers promptly established the attacker's location, documented criminal actions and detained him while setting up a remote monitoring device for the railway transport route," the Ukrainian special service said in a statement.
"According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice turned out to be a former official of one of the regional police departments in Odesa. After the start of a full-scale invasion, he was recruited by a representative of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to conduct intelligence and subversive activities in the region," the Security Service of Ukraine added.
Several criminal cases have been opened against the attacker, including high treason. The pre-trial investigation continues.
