French Navy intercepts Russian oil tanker in Mediterranean
The French Navy, using intelligence data provided by the United Kingdom, intercepted a tanker from Russia's shadow fleet in the Mediterranean Sea

French President Emmanuel Macron reported the information.
According to the French Navy, the tanker Grinch operates under the flag of another state and is under sanctions.
The French fleet is escorting the vessel to port for further inspection.
"The operation was conducted on the high seas in the Mediterranean, with the support of several of our allies. It was carried out in strict compliance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea," the French president wrote.
