Russia's night attack: Over 40 air targets shot down over Kyiv, port infrastructure damaged in Odesa

Local authorities reported the information.

The first air raid alarms in the regions were activated at 00:06 am, but the danger began to spread on a massive scale at 00:30 am. The alarm went off at 04:59 am in Kyiv and then spread to other regions.

Vladyslav Nazarov, spokesperson for the Southern Operational Command, emphasizes that during the nighttime massive missile and drone attack, Russia launched Shahed-131/136 “kamikaze” drones across southern Ukraine. Three of them were destroyed in the sky over the Mykolaiv region, and another over the Odesa region.

Kyiv and the region 

At night, Russia launched the 15th air attack on Kyiv since the beginning of May, the Kyiv City Military Administration emphasized. It launched Shahed drones and cruise missiles.

"Last night there were drones again - according to preliminary information, the enemy launched Shahed barrage munitions. Almost simultaneously with the UAV attack, enemy TU-95MS launched cruise missiles, probably Kh-101/555, from the Caspian Sea area. So the attack on the capital was a combined one, from different directions," the statement said.

In total, more than 40 air targets were detected and destroyed by Ukrainian air defense forces and means.

"No strikes on Kyiv were allowed!" Kyiv City Military Administration emphasized.

As a result of the falling debris in the Podilskyi district, the roof of a residential building was damaged, without any casualties. No information on casualties has been reported so far. The data is being clarified. 

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko also said that there was no damage or destruction of infrastructure and other facilities or apartment buildings in Kyiv. There were no casualties. 

At 00:59 am, the Kyiv Regional Military Administration reported on the air defense operation: "Residents of the Kyiv region! There is a threat of enemy UAVs in the region. Air defense forces are already working. Under no circumstances should you film the work of our defenders or post it online. Stay in shelters until the air raid is over. Take care of yourself and your loved ones!"

The first explosions in Kyiv were reported at 03:18 am. At 03:20 am, air defense systems were activated in Kyiv.

"An explosion in the Holosiivskyi district of the capital. All services are on their way to the scene. More details later. Stay in shelters!" the mayor wrote at the time.

Later, he reported another series of explosions and a missile shot down near the city.

At 03:43 am and 03:45 am, explosions occurred in Podilskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts. Emergency services were working on the ground.

"In the Sviatoshynskyi district, where the debris fell on a building that had been evacuated, rescuers are extinguishing the fire," Klitschko said.

Meanwhile, in the Podilskyi district, the roof of a one-story private house was damaged as a result of falling debris.

Odesa region

Odesa and Odesa district were also attacked by “kamikaze” drones.

The Odesa Regional Military Administration notes that the air defense units destroyed 1 drone in the sky over the Odesa region. However, there was a hit to the port infrastructure.

"Unfortunately, there was a UAV strike on port infrastructure in Odesa. State Emergency Service and port units extinguished the fire that broke out after the strike," the statement said.

All relevant services are currently working at the scene, and information on the extent of the damage is being clarified.

Earlier, Serhiy Bratchuk, the head of the Public Council at the Odesa Regional State Administration, said that the wreckage of the downed drone fell on the port infrastructure of Odesa.

Vinnytsia

At 01:38 am, the head of the Vinnytsia Regional Military Administration, Serhiy Borzov, reported an attack on the region.

"Defense forces in the region are shooting down air targets. Stay in shelters until the end of the air raid. All services are working," he said.

Lviv region

At 03:50 am, residents of the region also heard explosions, and air defense was working.

"Air defense is working in the Lviv region. Do not publish any information. Stay in shelters!" wrote the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi.

Khmelnytskyi region

At night, residents of the Khmelnytskyi region also heard explosions.

"Sounds of explosions were heard in the region. Do not film the work of the air defense forces and stay in shelters until the alarm is over!" the regional military administration noted.
