Night attack: Ukraine’s air defense forces destroy 52 drones, Russia hits infrastructure in Zhytomyr region

More than 40 drones were destroyed in the airspace of Kyiv
The 14th air attack on the capital, Kyiv, occurred, marking the most significant strike by Shahed barrage ammunition since the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation began. The attack was carried out in multiple waves, resulting in an air alert that lasted over 5 hours.
According to initial reports, the forces and air defense systems successfully destroyed over 40 drones in Kyiv's airspace. However, there are reports of casualties and damage in various districts of Kyiv due to falling debris. The Kyiv city military administration provided further details, stating that in the Holosiivskyi district, debris from the downed drones struck a seven-story non-residential building, resulting in one fatality and one person being hospitalized. Additionally, a shopping mall's roof caught fire, a separate building and enterprise experienced fires, and warehouses of finished products were engulfed in flames, causing destruction across an area of 1,000 square meters and resulting in one casualty.
In the Pechersky district, a house's roof caught fire, while in the Darnytsky district, one of the shops suffered broken windows and damaged doors.
In the Kyiv region, anti-aircraft defense shot down all air targets
Ruslan Kravchenko, the head of Kyiv regional military administration, reported that due to the efficient work of the air defense, all enemy targets in the region were successfully destroyed, and no impacts were recorded.
Kravchenko stated, "As a result of the falling debris, a private house in one of the communities sustained minor damage with broken windows. In another area, windows were also shattered in a food establishment. Additionally, a truck trailer caught fire, but the fire was extinguished, and one of the cars had its windows damaged."
He further mentioned that the falling debris caused a forest fire and ignited grass litter in several locations, but these incidents were swiftly contained and localized.
Russia launched a record number of Shaheds
The Ukrainian Air Force has confirmed that the enemy launched an attack on Ukraine using Iranian Shahed-136/131 attack drones. These drones were launched from the northern direction, specifically the Bryansk region, as well as from the southern direction, the Krasnodar region.
A significant number of kamikaze drones, a total of 54, were deployed, targeting military facilities and critical infrastructure in the central regions of the country, particularly in the Kyiv region.
The majority of these attack drones were successfully eliminated within the operational zone of the Air Command Center.
In total, 52 Shaheds were destroyed in Ukraine during the course of the night.
In Zhytomyr region, an infrastructure object was hit
According to Mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn, Zhytomyr has also suffered damage from the Russian strike.
"There have been no casualties in Zhytomyr. However, there is significant damage. Further details will be provided later. Let us stay strong," Sukhomlyn stated.
Vitaliy Bunechko, the head of the Zhytomyr regional military administration, confirmed that one of the infrastructure facilities in the Zhytomyr region was targeted by the enemy.
"Preliminary information indicates that there have been no casualties or fatalities," Bunechko reported.
