Russia’s military push in Sumy, Kharkiv already underway — Ukraine’s top general
Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, states that Russian troops have effectively launched an offensive on Ukraine’s Sumy and Kharkiv regions
He said this in an interview with Lb.ua.
When asked about Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement regarding Russian forces preparing an offensive in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, the Commander-in-Chief responded, "I can confirm that the president is absolutely right, and this offensive has effectively already begun."
According to Syrskyi, this is evidenced by the fact that, for nearly a week, the number of Russian offensives in all major directions has nearly doubled.
"Over the past several days, nearly a week, we have observed an almost twofold increase in the number of Russian offensives across all major directions," the top general added.
At the same time, he emphasized that Russia's military objectives remain unchanged. Russia aims to fully occupy the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, parts of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, and establish a buffer zone in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
- On March 27, Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared information about Russia's intention to launch a new offensive on the Kharkiv and Sumy regions. According to the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin wanted to launch this operation last year, but Ukraine's Kursk operation prevented it.
