Russian soldiers kill 5 Ukrainian POWs in Kursk region
The occupying Russian army killed five captured servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Russia’s Kursk region
Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko reported the information.
According to the Ukrainian ombudsman, a video of the alleged execution of unarmed Ukrainian soldiers captured by Russian soldiers is being circulated on social media.
“The video shows at least 5 allegedly killed prisoners of war. We once again see a cynical disregard for international humanitarian law on the part of the Russian army,” Lubinets wrote.
According to Sternenko, the Russian war crime occurred in the village of Kozachya Loknya, Kursk region. He stated that Ukrainian units were trapped and cut off from the main forces there for about a week.
Meanwhile, the ombudsman has sent letters to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross, requesting that the war crime be documented.
- On November 23, Dmytro Lubinets appealed to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross over a new case of Russian military executing captured Ukrainian defenders.
