Russian forces use chemical munitions against Ukrainian army 715 times in May
In May 2024, 715 cases of the Russian army using ammunition containing hazardous chemicals were documented, marking an increase of 271 cases compared to April.

The command of the Support Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the information.
Russia's primary method of delivering chemical munitions is through the dropping of K-51 grenades and hand grenades from drones.
During the period from February 2023 to May 24, 2024, a total of 2,698 instances of the Russian army using hazardous chemicals in Ukraine were recorded.
"During this period, 1,385 cases of Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen being treated in medical institutions for symptoms of chemical damage of varying severity were recorded, including 21 cases in May alone," the report adds.
- On May 1, the US State Department confirmed that Russian forces used the banned chemical chloropicrin against the Ukrainian army.
