
Russian drone strike on Ukraine’s Dnipro claims three lives, including children

At 10:53 p.m. of the previous day, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Serhiy Lysak reported that several fires broke out in Dnipro due to a drone attack, damaging residential buildings.
"According to preliminary information, two children were injured. We are verifying all the details," he noted.
Later, the head of the regional administration added that educational and cultural institutions, as well as vehicles, were also damaged in the city.
"'Russian world' in action. Soon, there will be another fake report on Russian channels about the 'destruction of NATO officers.' In fact, it's again terrorizing civilians in Dnipro... frightened ordinary citizens, especially children," Lysak wrote.
At 11:30 p.m., he reported that Russian troops killed a young girl in Dnipro.
"Another 7 people, preliminary, were injured. Among them is a 9-month-old girl. Fortunately, her condition is satisfactory. Doctors provided assistance on site," Lysak informed.
At 11:57 p.m., the head of the Regional Military Administration wrote that another woman had been confirmed dead. The number of injured rose to 16 people, including three children – a 9-month-old girl, and two boys aged 6 and 11. They are in satisfactory condition.
"Five people were taken to hospitals and are receiving medical assistance," Lysak added.
Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov reported that by 01:31 a.m., the number of injured had risen to 28, including four children.
The aftermath of the Russian strikes on the city is currently being cleaned up. At least 15 buildings have been damaged, including student dormitories, a school building, and a food enterprise.
As of the morning of April 17, the number of fatalities has increased to 3, including one child, according to the State Emergency Service. Damaged buildings include residential homes, student dormitories, a school building, and a food enterprise, as well as vehicles.
The National Police reported that three people were killed in the attack, including a girl born in 2008. Additionally, 30 people were injured, including children.
As of 10 a.m. on April 17, the number of injured has risen to 31, writes Lysak.
DTEK reported that a production site in the Dnipropetrovsk region was damaged by the drone attack in the morning. As a result, buildings and equipment sustained serious damage.
Russian strike hits ambulance in Kherson
The Kherson Regional Military Administration reports that at around 07:40 a.m., Russian forces attacked an ambulance with a drone in the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson.
The vehicle was damaged by the drone’s explosive payload. Two personnel were also injured. A 65-year-old paramedic sustained blast injuries and shrapnel wounds to his arm and leg. The 61-year-old driver suffered a blast injury, with head and pelvic wounds.
Zelenskyy’s statement
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a statement in response to the Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities.
"Every defense package from our partners for Ukraine now, every form of the world's support for our resilience, is literally the protection of lives. Russia uses every day and every night to kill. We must put pressure on the murderers and help save lives to end this war and guarantee a lasting peace. I want to thank all the partners who are using their capabilities in exactly this way. Wars are stopped by force – force against the aggressor, force in the defense of life," the head of state emphasized.
