1 killed, 6 injured, including children, in Russian attacks on northern and eastern Ukraine
On Monday, September 23, the occupying Russian army launched two strikes on critical infrastructure and residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia, as well as targeting Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region, and the suburbs of Kharkiv

Explosions in the Kharkiv suburbs
At 5:35 p.m., the Ukrainian Air Force issued a warning about the threat of guided aerial bombs in the Kharkiv region.
Within five minutes, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported an explosion, stating that, according to preliminary information, the strike had hit a nearby suburb.
Later, Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed that Russian forces had struck a forested area on the outskirts of the city. According to him, people were not injured.
Moreover, Russian forces struck near the cemetery in Kharkiv, the head of the military administration wrote.
“It hit the ground, the grass caught fire. Specialists of the State Emergency Service are eliminating the consequences. There are no casualties,” Syniehubov said.
Explosions in Zaporizhzhia
At 5:23 p.m., the Ukrainian Air Force reported a high-speed target approaching Zaporizhzhia.
Simultaneously, Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, announced explosions in the city.
He later clarified that Russian troops had targeted a critical infrastructure facility in Zaporizhzhia, with preliminary reports indicating that two people were wounded.
At 11:46 p.m., Fedorov reported further explosions in the Zaporizhzhia region and the city itself, stating that Russian troops had struck Zaporizhzhia again, resulting in one fatality.
“Russians struck Zaporizhzhia again, killing a man. The enemy targeted a critical infrastructure facility, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished, with no casualties reported from that incident. However, they also hit a residential area, where preliminary reports indicate one person was killed and two others injured. At least two private houses were destroyed,” Fedorov wrote.
At 12:16 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, Rehina Kharchenko, secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, reported on Telegram that five people were wounded in the attack, including a 13-year-old girl.
“Regarding the victims of the attack, there is a 13-year-old girl and four other residents of the city among them. Unfortunately, one man has died. Some of the victims were taken to hospitals in the city with varying degrees of injury,” Kharchenko wrote.
On the morning of September 24, Fedorov reported that there were six wounded. Two of them are teenagers.
“One man was killed and 6 more people, including a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, were wounded as a result of Russian attacks on Zaporizhzhia,” he wrote.
Explosions in Pavlohrad
At around 5:00 p.m., the Ukrainian military issued a warning about a high-speed target approaching from the east toward Pavlohrad.
At 5:01 p.m., according to Suspilne, the sounds of an explosion were reported in the city. An air raid alert was subsequently declared for both the city and the surrounding region.
