Russian troops use people evacuated from flooded settlements as human shields - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on June 8.

“In the settlements of the temporarily occupied Kherson region, the Russian forces continue to use the consequences of the crime they committed for their own purposes. In particular, people who have evacuated from flooded settlements are being settled in boarding houses and recreation centers where military units are already deployed. Thus, the invaders are trying to protect themselves under the guise of civilians,” the report says. 

In addition, according to the General Staff, Russia is having problems supplying its own military. The report notes that soldiers who recently signed a contract in Volgograd were given boots instead of high-top boots. The contractors are also forced to buy military uniforms at their own expense.

Ukrainian aviation launched 18 strikes on Russian military positions over the day

Another 2 strikes were launched at enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.

In their turn, missile and artillery units struck 5 control points, 6 manpower concentration areas, 2 anti-aircraft missile systems, 8 artillery units at firing positions, as well as 2 more important targets over the day.

Russia launched 1 missile strike, 27 airstrikes against Ukraine

Invading Russian forces also launched 30 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.

The enemy troops are attacking in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka directions, and heavy fighting continues for every square meter. Within the last day, 26 combat engagements took place in the above-mentioned frontline areas.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire line of contact with mortars and artillery: 4 settlements in the Sumy region, as well as 7 more in the Kharkiv region were attacked. 

Shelling of Ukrainian regions

• In the Kupiansk direction, 8 settlements in the Kharkiv and Luhansk directions came under artillery shelling. 

• In the Lyman direction, 7 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under enemy fire. 

• In the Bakhmut direction, 12 localities in the Donetsk regions were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

• In the Avdiivka direction, 5 settlements of the Donetsk region came under fire. 

• In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all of the invading Russian troops' attacks, however, 3 settlements of the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

• In the Shakhtarsk direction, 4 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled. 

• In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, 13 cities and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

On Thursday, June 8, Kherson came under Russian fire. There are currently 9 wounded, including a German volunteer.
