Russian troops refuse to continue offensive due to failure near Vuhledar, while AFU repels 90 enemy attacks - General Staff

This was reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in a morning report on February 23.

It is noted that due to the failure of the offensive and significant losses in manpower near Vuhledar, the personnel of the volunteer, so-called Cossack detachment, which was attached to the 155th Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, refuses to further participate in the offensive.

Ukrainian troops destroyed ammunition depot, SAM system and places of invaders' concentration

Yesterday, February 22, Ukrainian aviation conducted 11 strikes on the invaders' concentration areas, as well as a strike on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile system at a firing position. 

Missile and artillery units hit a command post, 2 areas of enemy manpower concentration and an ammunition depot.

Russia focuses on offensive in 5 directions, but Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 90 enemy attacks

The Russian Federation is focusing its main efforts on conducting offensives in the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions.

However, Ukrainian defenders repelled about 90 enemy attacks in these areas yesterday.

The enemy conducted 10 missile and 19 air strikes against Ukraine 

The Russian army conducted 37 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems, as well as 10 missile and 19 air strikes.  Once again, peaceful towns and villages and civilians were affected. 

The threat of Russian missile attacks remains high throughout Ukraine.

The operational situation in the Northern and Northeastern Ukrainian borders remains without significant changes. No signs of the formation of enemy offensive groups were detected. 

The enemy fired mortars and artillery at 1 locality in Chernihiv region; 6 in Sumy region, as well as 18 localities in Kharkiv region. 

On the Kupyansk and Lyman directions, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensives near the settlements of Stelmakhivka, Kreminna, Bilohorivka, and Fedorivka. 

He fired artillery shells near 4 settlements in Kharkiv region; 6 in Luhansk region and 2 in Donetsk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy continues to attack the positions of Ukrainian troops near the city of Bakhmut and areas of 5 settlements. They are also actively conducting aerial reconnaissance to adjust artillery fire. 

More than 20 settlements in Donetsk region came under fire.

In the Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk directions, the enemy attacked near the cities of Avdiivka and Vuhledar and 6 other settlements. 

In total, the occupants carried out 43 unsuccessful attacks near the above-mentioned localities over the past day.

Artillery shelling was registered in the areas of 22 settlements in Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia sector, areas of 4 settlements in Donetsk region, 5 in Zaporizhzhia region and 2 in Dnipropetrovs'k region were hit by fire.

In the Kherson direction, the city of Kherson, as well as 5 other settlements suffered from artillery fire from Russian occupying forces.

• On February 22, a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group attempted to cross the border of Ukraine near Bolohivka, Kharkiv region.
