Russian troops forcibly occupy locals’ homes to use civilians as human shields in Tokmak - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this.

"The Russian occupiers cynically continue to violate the norms of international humanitarian law: they forcibly live with civilians in their homes, using civilians as human shields. For example, in the town of Tokmak, Zaporizhzhia region, servicemen of the Russian occupation forces are forcibly moving in with elderly civilians in their homes," the statement said.

It is also noted that the occupiers are looting apartments and houses.

Ukrainian aviation carried out 16 strikes on enemy concentration areas during the day

Another 2 strikes were on enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.

In turn, the missile troops destroyed 3 control points, an anti-aircraft missile system, 9 artillery pieces, an ammunition depot and an enemy electronic warfare station.

Russia launched 31 Shahed drones at the territory of Ukraine - 28 of them were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense

Also, Russia fired an Iskander-M ballistic missile at Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro region, causing civilian casualties.

In total, the enemy launched 9 missile and 67 air strikes, fired 40 times from MLRS at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. Residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

There were 15 combat engagements in the main frontline areas

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 30 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions

In the Kupyansk direction, 10 settlements of the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling.

In the Lyman direction, over 10 settlements in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire.

In the Bakhmut direction, over 25 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces.

In the Avdiivka direction, more than 10 settlements in the Donetsk region were attacked.

In the Maryinka direction, over 10 settlements in the Donetsk region came under shelling.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, over 10 localities in the Donetsk region were shelled.

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 35 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army.

At the same time, the Ukrainian army continues their offensive operations in the Melitopol and Bakhmut sector, consolidating their positions and conducting counter-battery operations.

  • On Tuesday, September 19, Russian terrorists fired on Seredyna-Buda town in the Sumy region: two people were wounded in the attack.
