Russian special services operatives are detained in Volyn

This was reported in the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

"Thanks to the coordinated work of law enforcement officers, the agent of the Russian Federation, the organizer of the contract killings of the Minister of Defense and the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, was detained", it is noted. 

The agent of the Russian special services, who came to Ukraine to organize the murder of a number of political and public figures, was detained in Volyn.

According to the investigation, the detainee is a resident of the Luhansk region, who since 2014 supported the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and served in the ranks of the so-called People's Police of the "LPR". Representatives of the main intelligence agency of the Russian Federation recruited him on the territory of Russia after a full-scale invasion.

In May 2022, he was tasked by Russian curators to organize the murder of a Ukrainian citizen - the head of one of the combat units fighting with the aggressor. To carry out the murder, he involved an executor - a resident of Kyiv. He was fit to fulfill the order, which included surveillance of the object and its subsequent liquidation with the use of firearms.  This assassination was supposed to be a "test" task before the others.

Subsequently, the organizer received an order from the Russian curators to organize the deliberate murders of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, the head of the State Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, as well as other public figures in the capital and other cities of Ukraine. Among the objects for physical liquidation was also one of the leaders of the National Corps - in the past, the commander of the reconnaissance regiment of the Ukrainian military unit Azov and an adviser to one of the ministers. For the murder of each of them, the Russian curators promised a reward in the amount of USD 100000.

Ukraine's Security Service released the details of a multi-stage special operation, as a result of which it was possible to neutralize the subversive intelligence group. In particular, it was reported that the attacker disguised the routes of movement, so he entered Ukraine through the territory of Belarus. SBU employees documented his arrival in the Volyn region through the Domanove checkpoint and his meeting with an accomplice.

In order to prevent the commission of particularly serious crimes, counter-intelligence officers of the Ukrainian Security Service with the involvement of soldiers of the Central Security Service "A" detained both criminals in Kovel. During the search, evidence of criminal acts, as well as a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, were found on the "bondman".

Both detainees, the organizer and the executor, were informed of the suspicion of treason committed under martial law and intentional murder. The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved.
