Russian propaganda bets on fear

The stories about the advancing army are over.  No one goes anywhere anymore

Russian propaganda has turned 180 degrees from what it was the previous 9 months.  The small victorious war was forgotten.  No one croaks about quick wins anymore.

Last week, Putin himself tried to say something about the long special operation.  However, this did not cause enthusiasm among the masses, so all propaganda resources were forced to throw at the explanation that he did not mean long and terrible, but something else.

“Russian propaganda places its main bet on instilling fear in Russians. They are afraid of a war with NATO, the Nazis, and in general the world beyond the borders of the Russian Federation.”

The fact is that Russian propaganda places its main bet on instilling fear in Russians. They are afraid of a war with NATO, the Nazis, and in general the world beyond the borders of the Russian Federation.  And because of fear, they are trying to mobilize Russians for war.  It is not very convincing.

Therefore, they came to the conclusion that they should not frighten sofa ‘Rushists’ point-blank.  It is necessary to prepare the ground.  Now Russian propagandists are doing this.

First of all, the stories about the advancing victorious Russian army are over.  No one goes anywhere anymore.  This has been replaced by a narrative of initiative retention and strategic defense.  And no one refuses the idea of mobilizing the population of the Russian Federation for a war with NATO.  Even more, they are trying to finally explain to the masses why this war is necessary after all.  With new strength and with the involvement of new faces, they are trying to convince ordinary people that it is a defense against an external attack, and not just the capture of the Azov sea.
