US to provide Ukraine with self-guided bombs that can target GPS jammers

The Pentagon has awarded a $23.5 million contract to Scientific Applications and Research Associates (SARA) for purchasing Home-on GPS sensors for electronic warfare and integrating extended-range guidance heads onto JDAM-ER guided bombs

The agency published the information on its official website on May 3, 2024.

Such weapons will not only be resistant to electronic warfare, but will also be able to target these stations.

The terms of the contract provide for the provision of some of these kits for Ukraine, the Ukrainian military portal Defense Express reported on May 4.

According to the publication, the Home-on GPS (or HOJ) kit is quite compact, costs 10 times less than its predecessors, and its component base allows for easy integration into the guidance system of any existing precision aviation weapon.

At the same time, the volume and timing of the provision of American HOJs to Ukraine are not disclosed.
