Russian MoD tries to restore reputation of brigade synonymous with its failures in Ukraine - British intelligence
The Russian Ministry of Defense is conducting a targeted information operation to restore the reputation of the 155th Marine Brigade, which has become synonymous with Russia's recent failures in Ukraine
This is stated in the intelligence review of the British Ministry of Defense on Monday, April 3.
During March 2023, the activities of the 155th Marine Brigade were covered by the most widely circulated videos of Russian combat operations, which were filmed with helmet cameras. The brigade was also visited by Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov.
In addition, there were public statements that the unit was in "high spirits and determined to achieve its goals." Footage was also circulated showing the 155th Brigade being re-equipped with modified tanks.
In fact, the 155th Brigade has probably been declared unfit for combat at least twice in the last six months due to its participation in tactically erroneous frontal attacks near Vuhledar in Donetsk region, the report says.
The Russian Ministry of Defense's efforts to restore the brigade's image probably reflect concern that its failures are increasingly being linked to Russia's senior military leadership, the British department said.

On March 5, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that after suffering devastating losses, the leadership and soldiers of the 155th Marine Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces refused to go on the offensive in the Vuhledar direction again without any support and training.

According to Russian propagandist Solovyov, Russian special services are tasked with finding out who passed on information about his movements in the occupied territory of Donetsk region to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
