Russian missiles hit 5 high-voltage substations in central and southern Ukraine on January 26
During a missile attack on January 26, invading Russian forces hit 5 high-voltage substations. Ukraine has a plan to restore its energy sector and is waiting for the partners' help
Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at the government meeting on January 27.
“Ukraine has already experienced the 13th major air attack against our energy system. Russian terrorists do not stop trying to destroy our energy system, as well as deprive us of heat and light. This time, the enemy's main target was the high-voltage infrastructure. The Air Defense Forces shot down most of the missiles. However, five high-voltage substations in the central, southern and southwestern regions were hit,” the PM said.
“That is why it is important that this week during the “energy Ramstein” meeting, we managed to agree on increasing aid to the energy system of Ukraine,” he added.
According to him, the government is preparing a plan on how to restore Ukraine's energy system in the spring and summer. In particular, it is about “changing approaches, building and developing decentralized generation, quality reconstruction and protection of distribution networks.”
Shmyhal emphasized that the issue of rapid reconstruction of the power system became one of the key ones at the meeting of the “financial Ramstein” on January 26.
