On Wednesday, November 8, Mykhailo Filiponenko, a deputy of the LPR People's Council and former head of the LPR People's Militia, was killed in a car explosion in the temporarily occupied Luhansk. It later turned out to be a special operation of Ukraine's Intelligence Service and representatives of the resistance movement.
This was reported by another deputy of the so-called LPR parliament, Yuriy Yurov.
"An hour ago, our colleague, a deputy of the LPR People's Council, former head of the LPR JCCC, former head of the LPR People's Militia, a man who stood at the origins of the republic's people's militia, Colonel Mikhail Filiponenko, tragically died in Luhansk," Yurov wrote on Telegram.
Russian media reported that he was allegedly blown up in his own car.
Subsequently, Filipenko's son told the Luhansk Information Center that his father was killed by an explosive device in his car.
Later, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine confirmed the elimination of war criminal Filiponenko.
"On November 8, 2023, at 8:40 a.m., the so-called deputy of the so-called Supreme Council of the LPR from the Russian LDPR party, Mikhail Filiponenko, was liquidated as a result of a car explosion," the statement reads.
They noted that the Main Intelligence Directorate, together with representatives of the resistance movement, carried out a special operation to eliminate the invader.
The Intelligence Directorate emphasized that he was involved in organizing torture chambers in the occupied territories of the Luhansk region, where prisoners of war and civilian hostages were subjected to inhuman torture. Filiponenko personally brutally tortured people.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the so-called former Minister of Internal Affairs of the Luhansk People's Republic lived at Parashutna Street, 48 in Luhansk.
