According to previous reports, the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valeriy Gerasimov, will personally lead the Russian army’s offensive in the Izyum direction.
Gerasimov has already arrived at the command post of the Russian Armed Forces, located near Izyum city in the Kharkiv region.
The publication suggests that, since Gerasimov is on-site to personally command the operation at an operational or tactical level, rather than remaining at a strategic level, the Kremlin has likely failed in its plan to create a single vertical command through their occupying forces, which was to be headed by the commander of the Southern Military District, Army General Alexander Dvornikov.
