Russian forces turn recreation center in Kherson region into commandant's office: Ukrainian patriots are being interrogated, tortured there – General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on July 6.

Russian crimes in the occupied territories

Invading Russian forces continue to violate international humanitarian law and continue to use children's institutions in the temporarily occupied territories to deploy their troops and use civilians as human shields.

According to the General Staff, in the village of Novopetrivka, Berdiansk district, Zaporizhzhia region, Russian military personnel have set up a military base on the territory of the Vesna children's sanatorium. More than 800 Russian servicemen are stationed there, and Russian military equipment is deployed close to the houses of local residents.

And in Chulakivka, Kherson region, Russian soldiers converted the Iva Recreation Center into a military commandant's office. Patriotic citizens of Ukraine are interrogated and tortured there.

Defense Forces destroyed a Russian munitions depot, 3 electronic warfare stations

The Defense Forces' aviation launched 6 strikes on the invading Russian troops' military positions over the day. Missile and artillery units struck a manpower concentration area. They also hit the enemy's munitions depot, 6 artillery pieces at firing positions and 3 enemy electronic warfare stations.

Russia launched 41 airstrikes, 42 MLRS attacks over the past day

On the night of July 6, Russia launched a missile attack on Ukraine, using 10 Kalibr cruise missiles. Seven of them were destroyed by the Air Force, and 3 more hit Lviv. As a result of the terrorist attacks, 5 civilians were killed and 40 others were injured, more than three dozen houses, 10 dormitories, an orphanage, two universities and other civilian infrastructure were damaged and destroyed.

In addition, the Russian forces launched 41 airstrikes and about 42 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and at populated areas. In particular, the Russian army fired at civilian settlements in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions.

Frontline situation

Invading Russian forces are attacking in the Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Marinka sectors. There were 20 combat engagements in the area over the last day.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. 

At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire border line with mortars and artillery: over 15 settlements in the Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

Russian attacks in other Ukrainian regions

In the Kupiansk direction, several settlements of the Kharkiv region came under artillery shelling. 

In the Lyman direction, localities in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions came under Russian fire. 

In the Bakhmut direction, over 15 localities in the Donetsk region were attacked by the invading Russian forces. 

In the Avdiivka direction, over 10 settlements of the Donetsk region came under shelling. 

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled all of the invading Russian troops' attacks, however, about 10 settlements of the Donetsk region were shelled. 

In the Shakhtarsk direction, about 15 localities in the Donetsk region came under Russian fire. 

In the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions, over 30 towns and villages were subjected to numerous attacks by the occupying Russian army. 

• Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 232,300 soldiers, 3,635 drones, and 4,068 tanks in the war in Ukraine.
