Russian forces drive people out of houses, in flooded Hola Prystan, ban evacuation from Kozachi Laheri - General Staff
After the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, invading Russian forces continue to terrorize civilians in the temporarily occupied Kherson region
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this on June 7.
“The Russian Federation does not care about the problems of the population in the occupied territories. It is capable of any crimes and large-scale destruction. After the Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam, residents of the village of Kozachi Laheri, who found themselves in the flood zone, did not wait for help from the occupiers and tried to leave the partially flooded settlement on their own. However, Russian servicemen, being intoxicated, blocked all possible ways to leave the village and forbade evacuation,” the General Staff reported.
In the town of Hola Prystan, the Russian military expel the owners of two-story houses and move in there themselves. The occupiers also set up firing positions on the roofs of these houses.
Frontline situation
“During the day, Russia launched 28 airstrikes and about 20 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, in addition to the destroyed infrastructure, civilians suffered. The likelihood of missile and air strikes throughout Ukraine remains very high,” the General Staff writes.
Russia continues its attempts to fully occupy the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. There were 21 combat engagements over the last day.
Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected.
At the same time, the Russian Federation continued shelling the entire line of contact with mortars and artillery: 2 settlements in the Chernihiv region, 5 more in the Sumy region, as well as 14 towns and villages in the Kharkiv region were attacked.
