
Russian drone attack on Ukraine sparks fire in Kyiv, damages buildings in Sumy
On the evening of April 12, Russian forces launched attack drones at Ukraine. In the Sumy region, residential houses were damaged, and falling debris sparked a fire near Kyiv
Attack on the Sumy region
At 20:16, the Sumy City Council reported that a Russian drone struck the Stetskivka area, hitting an official building.
"Preliminary reports say the blast shattered windows in residential houses and outbuildings across at least three properties," the statement reads.
So far, there’s no information about injuries or casualties.
As of this morning, the regional military administration reported that air defense units shot down four Russian Shahed drones over the region during the night.
Aftermath of the attack on the Kyiv region
According to the Kyiv regional military administration, Russian forces again targeted the Kyiv region with drones overnight. Air defense was active in the area and managed to shoot down Russian drones.
There were no casualties and no hits on critical or residential infrastructure.
However, in the Fastiv district, a hangar roof caught fire due to the attack. The fire has already been put out.
