
Russian bombing of Zaporizhzhia high-rise kills one, injures many
On Tuesday, April 22, Russian forces launched a guided aerial bomb at Zaporizhzhia. The strike hit a multi-story building, resulting in the death of a woman and leaving several others injured
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that at 11:29 a.m., he warned residents about the threat of guided aerial (KAB) bombs. Two minutes later, explosions were heard. Fedorov later shared a video showing the aftermath of a Russian strike on a multi-story residential building, with medical teams responding to the scene.
By noon, it was confirmed that two people were injured and a 69-year-old woman had died from severe injuries. Fedorov also stated that two children were injured— a 14-year-old boy in serious condition and a 4-year-old boy in moderate condition.
By 1:00 p.m., the number of injured had risen to 13, with two in serious condition. Fedorov reported that Russian troops launched two KAB bombs at the city, one hitting an infrastructure facility and the other striking a residential area.
Within 20 minutes, the number of injured increased to 15, with six receiving medical treatment on-site.
By 1:45 p.m., the number of injured had risen to 22, including three children, with doctors reporting their condition as moderate.
In total, there are four children among the injured - boys aged 16, 14, 4 and 3 years old are currently in hospital.
As of 4:12 p.m., the number of casualties as a result of the Russian attack increased to 26, said Ivan Fedorov.
- On the evening of Monday, April 21, the Russian army launched attack drones at Ukraine. In the Odesa region, people were injured, and in the Kyiv region, air defense was active.
