Russian army tries hard to take Bakhmut by May 9 - Maliar
Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said that Russian troops are trying to take the city of Bakhmut by May 9, but Ukrainian defenders are not allowing them to break through the defence.

"The enemy is trying hard to take control of Bakhmut by May 9," the military wrote.
It is reported that the Russian army is deploying Wagner PMC mercenaries from other areas to accomplish the task. At the same time, Wagner's men are being replaced by assault units of Russian paratroopers who are currently fighting in the Bakhmut sector.
"Ukrainian artillery fire destroyed Wagner's ammunition storage sites," emphasised the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine and added that our fighters "do not allow the enemy to break through the defence."
- On May 2, during his visit to the Bakhmut sector, Colonel General, Commander of the Land Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that the defence operation was continuing and the enemy was being held back in the east
- Colonel of the Armed Forces Reserve, military expert Roman Svitan believes that the Russian forces will have to withdraw from Bakhmut.
- Major of the National Guard of Ukraine, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, military analyst Oleksiy Hetman noted that the power of enemy attacks in the Bakhmut sector is gradually weakening.
- The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, wrote a letter to the Russian Defense Ministry announcing his intention to withdraw his mercenaries from Bakhmut on May 10.
