Prigozhin announces withdrawal of Wagner troops from Bakhmut: Kremlin comments
The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, wrote a letter to the leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry, in which he announced his intention to withdraw his mercenaries from Bakhmut on May 10
The letter was published on his Telegram channel.
Prigozhin complains about the lack of ammunition.
"I am officially addressing the Chief of the General Staff, the Minister of Defense, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the people of Russia. I declare on behalf of the Wagner PMC fighters, on behalf of the Wagner PMC command, that on May 10 we are forced to pass our positions in the settlement of Bakhmut to the units of the Ministry of Defense and withdraw the remnants of the Wagner PMC to rear camps to lick our wounds. I am withdrawing Wagner's PMC units because they are doomed to a senseless death due to absence of ammunition," he wrote.
According to Prigozhin, the Ukrainian forces outnumber the occupier's by 5 times.
The Kremlin said it was aware of Prigozhin's intentions.
"Of course, we have seen it (the letter - ed.) in the media. But I cannot comment on it, because it concerns the course of a special military operation," Russian Interfax quoted Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.

Earlier, Prigozhin has repeatedly spoken about the lack of ammunition, but Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu assures that the army has enough.
