Russia increases weapons production for war in Ukraine, Shoigu says
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has announced an increase in the production of weapons and equipment for the war against Ukraine
Shoigu said this during a conference call on May 2, according to Russian media.
He added that Russia had begun mass production of new types of weapons.
According to him, measures have been taken to increase the rate of production of weapons and equipment for the troops involved in the war against Ukraine. The minister also assured that "the armed forces have received a sufficient amount of ammunition to inflict fire damage on the enemy." Earlier, the founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, repeatedly spoke about the lack of ammunition.
"In general, the defence industry meets the needs of the army and navy. However, it is necessary to timely identify the risks of enterprises failing to fulfil their obligations and take prompt action," Shoigu said.
He also called it an important issue to build up repair and restoration capabilities to quickly repair damaged equipment.
