Yuriy Fedorenko, commander of the UAV strike company with the 92nd Detached Assault Brigade named after Ivan Sirko, spoke about Russia’s plans in the Bakhmut sector

He shared the information on Espreso TV.

"In the Bakhmut sector, it is important for the Russian forces to regain all the lost positions that were repulsed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces and take the necessary foothold to storm Chasiv Yar. The Russian troops also intend to build on their success in the direction of Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk," said Fedorenko.

According to him, Russia will continue to do so. The only thing that can thwart its intentions is the unity of the Ukrainian nation, the strength and will of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Russia's plan remains unchanged a year after the Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted the Kharkiv and Kherson counter-offensives. The enemy intends to fully occupy Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as restore its position in the Kharkiv region," added the commander.

At the end of last year, Russian forces have had minor tactical successes and are now trying to increase their efforts near Chasiv Yar. However, at the moment, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have managed to stabilize the situation and prevent the loss of positions in recent days, he noted.

"We had a similar situation in the spring of 2023. We were fighting for the road between Chasiv Yar and Bakhmut at the time. We managed to stop the enemy and, as a result, to push it back by 1.5-2 km, depending on the section," said Fedorenko.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are now able to prevent the Russian troops from advancing further, despite round-the-clock fierce fighting. According to Fedorenko, Ukrainian troops will be able to improve their position and push the enemy off the road and the positions they currently hold.

  • Last week, Ukrainian soldiers advanced near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region and continued positional fighting with Russian troops.
